On May 11, Poole RNLI volunteers responded to a motorboat in distress near Brownsea Island after it lost propulsion, initially signaling a PAN-PAN, which escalated to a MAYDAY as the vessel drifted towards shore. The crew discovered the boat anchored but drifting due to a slipping anchor. The skipper, wearing a lifejacket, chose to remain onboard and contacted a towing company. As conditions worsened, the occupant entered the water to walk the boat ashore, prompting the deployment of a D class lifeboat for closer support. The situation was stabilized, and both lifeboats returned safely once it was secure.
