Cameron Hamilton’s mother calls for justice reform

Cameron Hamilton, 18, was fatally stabbed by Thomas Betteridge, 20, in Bournemouth Square on August 5, 2023. Betteridge was sentenced to eight years in a young offenders institution after a retrial for manslaughter and possession of a bladed article. Cameron’s mother, Sarah Robinson, expressed deep disappointment with the justice system, criticizing its perceived fairness and the fact that time on tag was counted as part of Betteridge’s sentence. She lamented the lack of accountability and remorse from Betteridge and the emotional toll of navigating multiple trials, while appreciating the support from local authorities.
