Dorset Police commended bystanders who assisted an elderly woman after she was assaulted in Poole. The 89-year-old, in a wheelchair due to hip surgery, was pushed from her chair by Miroslaw Kochaniec, 46, wielding a wooden bat, causing serious injuries, including a brain bleed. Kochaniec was sentenced to two years and six months in prison after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm. Police praised the quick actions of witnesses who detained the attacker until law enforcement arrived.
