Proposals for new pedestrian crossing at hazardous junction

Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole Council plans to install a traffic-controlled pedestrian crossing at the Richmond Park Road and Springbourne Roundabout junction. This crossing aims to enhance safety for residents accessing Queen’s Park greenspace, schools, gyms, and the football ground. Councillor Alasdair Keddie emphasized the necessity due to frequent near misses at this dangerous area. Councillor Sharon Carr-Brown expressed support for the crossing, highlighting its importance for pedestrians and cyclists. Concerns regarding the crossing’s proximity to the roundabout will be addressed. Residents can share feedback on the proposal through an online consultation by May 22.
