The Wareham station crossing will be closed from May 11 to May 22 for the installation of a new gate system, following earlier rewiring work aimed at enhancing safety. During this period, ground-level access across the tracks will not be permitted; pedestrians are advised to use the station footbridge, with diversions for those unable to use the stairs. Dorset Council stated that the full gate system replacement is necessary to prevent future issues. Frustrations may arise among residents dependent on this crossing, which previously faced closure proposals that were successfully challenged. Advance notice signs are in place.
