Reasons for Low Voter Participation in Christchurch Council Elections

In October 2025, BCP Council approved the establishment of three new town councils in Bournemouth, Broadstone, and Poole, while deciding against delaying elections until 2027. Residents in Christchurch, which already has town councils, will not vote again until May 2027. BCP runs a council election schedule every four years; the next all-out election will occur in May 2027 for all 76 seats. Local parish councils will also hold elections, with only Christchurch residents eligible to vote in their respective councils. Starting in 2031, town and BCP council elections will be synchronized.
