Ricky Shepherd was acquitted of allegations, including rape and sexual assault, by a jury at Bournemouth Crown Court on November 24, 2023. The complainant, after drinking, entered Shepherd’s room, where she claimed she wanted to sleep but not engage in sexual activity. Shepherd insisted the encounter was consensual, citing flirtation and a confirming text message. With no prior criminal record and 25 years of service in the Royal Marines, Shepherd expressed shock at the accusations. He was serving at Hamworthy, Poole, and is a father of two, currently separated from his wife.
