James Hirst from Fordingbridge embarked on a journey along the South West Coast Path on April 6, starting from his home and adding 20 miles to the official route. Documenting his adventure as “Rambling Man” on TikTok, he has raised around £4,000 for Salisbury Hospice in memory of his mother, Nikee, who passed away from breast cancer in June 2020. Hirst shares his experiences, emphasizing the kindness of strangers who have assisted him, and acknowledges the hospice’s critical role in supporting families during difficult times. He describes the journey as a challenging personal pilgrimage for his mother.
