Bournemouth bed and breakfast deemed financially unviable

Amarillo Guesthouse has proposed converting a semi-detached Victorian house on Frances Road in Bournemouth, which has operated as a guesthouse for 60 years, into a care home for children with behavioral or emotional difficulties. The owners cited financial challenges from rising costs and increased competition from Airbnb as reasons for the shift. The application requests to house up to four children cared for by six staff members on a 24-hour shift basis. No structural changes are needed, and the facility will comply with Ofsted regulations. Community integration for the children is a priority. Public consultation runs until May 13.
