The Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) is urging the public to use outdoor spaces responsibly due to a significant rise in wildfires, which increased from 510 in 2023 to 1,040 in 2025. Many of these fires are believed to be deliberately started. Area Manager Marc House emphasized the severity and resource demands of such incidents. The DWFRS, along with Dorset Police, is focusing on combating intentional fire setting, encouraging community vigilance and reporting of suspicious activities. With summer approaching, both agencies stress the importance of fire awareness while enjoying natural environments.
