The UK government has announced funding for advanced drone technology in defense, aimed at boosting research and development in the South West, particularly at Dorset Innovation Park. Labour MPs Jessica Toale and Lloyd Hatton have welcomed this investment, highlighting Dorset’s leadership in defense innovation. Toale emphasized the need for cutting-edge defense capabilities amid global instability, while Hatton noted that the funding will attract more defense firms to the region, fostering local job growth. The initiative will help establish a Defence Drone Cluster across Dorset, Devon, Cornwall, and Somerset, supported by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology and the Ministry of Defence.
