Council acknowledges “agreed method” not adhered to on Sandbanks work

Labour MP Neil Duncan-Jordan raised concerns to BCP Council regarding the recent removal of sand dunes at Sandbanks beach, after constituents voiced worries about the impact on local wildlife, including protected sand lizards. Contractors began work approved by the council to manage wind-blown sand, but it was found that the agreed ecological methods were not fully followed, prompting work to be halted. The council has prioritized the investigation and plans further assessments. While some residents emphasized existing measures for dune preservation, online backlash accused them of neglecting environmental concerns. The council is set to issue further guidelines to prevent future issues.
