Plans have been submitted to convert The Lord Bute restaurant in Christchurch into an 18-bedroom hotel. This change aims to enhance the viability of nearby The Oak. The proposal focuses on internal alterations without major exterior modifications, transforming existing rooms into hotel accommodations, including accessible options. The site is adjacent to the Grade II listed East Lodge but is not listed itself. Following a previously refused redevelopment plan in 2025, the site was acquired by Heartwood Collection. The project claims to offer a “sustainable and appropriate reuse” of the buildings, supporting local tourism. Public consultation is open until May 16.
