On April 29, 2025, witnesses reported a dog chasing ponies in St Leonards. The dog, an Anatolian shepherd owned by Metin Yildirim, became a concern after over 20 incidents involving livestock and other dogs. Despite receiving warnings and a Community Protection Notice to keep the dog under control, Yildirim failed to comply. As a result, he faced court action on April 23, receiving an order requiring the dog to be leashed and muzzled in public. Violating this order could lead to a prison sentence of up to five years, emphasizing the seriousness of dog control issues.
