A new wind turbine in Bere Regis is set to significantly enhance energy production, generating 6,000 MWh annually, enough to power approximately 1,300 homes. The turbine will be relocated 250 meters to minimize impacts on local bat populations. Despite potential “moderate adverse effects” on the landscape, planning officers believe the benefits, including increased community funding and landscape improvements, outweigh the harm. Supporters emphasize its economic advantages and green energy contribution, while opponents express concerns over landscape impact and potential health issues. The proposal received a 4-2 approval from local councilors.
