In October, BCP Council approved new town councils in Bournemouth, Broadstone, and Poole following a community governance review. Bournemouth Town Council’s approval was narrowly passed at 34-31. In contrast, Broadstone and Poole secured approval with a 36-24 vote. Councillors rejected a proposal to delay the councils until 2027. Elections for these councils are set for May 7, 2026, with 21 councillors to be elected for Bournemouth and Poole and eight for Broadstone. Voters must bring photo ID and check their polling details, as ballots will be counted on May 8, 2026.
