Children in Bournemouth can participate in the “Make Waves for Marwell’s Penguins” swim challenge to raise £10,000 for a wave machine at Marwell Zoo, improving the penguin enclosure. Organized by World of Swimming, the campaign begins on April 25, World Penguin Day, and invites kids to swim between May 11 and June 28. The wave machine, designed to simulate ocean currents, aims to enhance the penguins’ natural behaviors. Chris Rees, from World of Swimming, emphasizes the initiative’s dual goal of promoting aquatic confidence in children while enriching penguin experiences at the zoo. More details are available on the World of Swimming website.
