On April 23, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service responded to a serious road traffic accident on A338 Downton Road. Fire crews from Salisbury and Wilton arrived around 3:17 PM, using hydraulic equipment to extricate a trapped casualty from one of two vehicles involved. The incident led to the A338 being closed in both directions, causing significant travel disruptions. Firefighters ensured the scene was safe before leaving at 3:56 PM. The casualty was handed over to the ambulance service for further medical care.
