On April 20, emergency services were called to a fire near West Moors Plantation after resident Jerry Martin spotted smoke while walking his dog around 4 PM. He quickly alerted the fire service using What3words to provide an exact location. Upon arrival, crews from Redhill and Verwood used beaters and hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze, which they confirmed was started deliberately. The fire was contained by 4:57 PM, and an amber alert was issued for the area due to the risk of wildfires spreading rapidly in dry conditions. Jerry’s swift action potentially minimized damage.
