The Dartford warbler, previously on the verge of extinction in the UK, has made a remarkable recovery due to conservation efforts and milder winters. In Dorset, 183 breeding pairs were recorded at RSPB reserves, with a notable sighting captured by photographer Marc Coady at RSPB Arne. He dedicated time to successfully photograph this elusive bird, which relies on dense gorse for nesting and protection. Once down to just 10 pairs in the 1960s, the population now stands at approximately 3,200. This resurgence highlights the importance of habitat restoration in wildlife conservation.
