Dorset Council will withdraw the school crossing patrol in Church Road, Ferndown, at the end of the school term, prompting concerns from councillors about pupil safety. They inquired if the patrol could continue with alternative funding, but highways portfolio holder Jon Andrews clarified that the decision was not cost-based. He noted that new zebra crossings have been installed, and council policy prevents operating both a patrol and a zebra crossing at the same location to avoid driver confusion. Crossing patrol staff will remain where deemed necessary.
