A new investment will establish an “Experts at Hand” initiative to provide children earlier access to speech therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists. This effort, part of the government’s Schools White Paper, will facilitate partnerships between special and mainstream schools, eliminating lengthy assessment processes for support. Final guidance on funding use and grant conditions will be released next month. BCP Council previously received £5.5 million for specialist SEND placements, while local MP Jessica Toale emphasized the need to reduce wait times for families. The initiative aims to ensure equitable access to specialist support across the country.
