Dorset residents are invited to share their opinions on live facial recognition technology via a new survey launched by Dorset Police and the Police and Crime Commissioner. The technology, set to debut this summer, uses live camera feeds to identify individuals against a watchlist of offenders to enhance crime detection and public safety. Police emphasize the importance of strong safeguards, transparency, and privacy. Images of those not on the watchlist will be promptly deleted, and deployment locations will be clearly marked and communicated beforehand. The survey is open until May 14, encouraging community participation.
