Dorset woman deceived DWP to obtain Universal Credit benefits

Emma Shepherd, 43, from Sturminster Marshall, was sentenced at Poole Magistrates’ Court for falsely claiming Universal Credit by lying about a co-habitant living at her address. She pleaded guilty to making a false statement to the Department for Work and Pensions on December 29, 2022. Shepherd received a three-month prison sentence, suspended for one year, and was fined £239, which includes £85 in prosecution costs and a £154 victim surcharge.
