St Mary’s Church in Sturminster Marshall, a Grade II listed building, has received £35,000 from the National Churches Trust to install its first toilet and improve accessibility. This funding is part of over £800,000 allocated to 70 churches across the UK. The vicar, Reverend Jane Williams, stated that “Project Welcome” aims to create a sustainable and inclusive environment, encouraging community use. Additionally, the church received a £15,000 grant from the Wolfson Foundation for urgent repairs. Plans include after-school clubs and supportive community activities, addressing the decline in church use due to lack of amenities.
