Pothole reports rise sharply in 12 months

Reports of potholes in Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole have surged dramatically, with over 5,300 reported to BCP Council during January and February 2026—an increase of nearly 400% from just over 1,000 reports in the same period last year. In January alone, 2,612 potholes were recorded, followed by 2,717 in February. Experts attribute this rise to prolonged wet weather and the freeze-thaw cycle damaging roads. Motorists are warned that hitting potholes can harm vehicles. BCP Council prioritizes urgent repairs and encourages residents to report potholes via their website for maintenance.
