Poole hospice recognised for environmental work

Forest Holme Hospice in Poole has earned the Greener Palliative Care Silver Award for its environmental initiatives, becoming the only organization to achieve this status in the program’s inaugural round. Presented at the Palliative Care Congress in Brighton, this accolade recognizes efforts to lower environmental impact while delivering high-quality care. Initiatives include reducing disposable glove use, using automatic lighting to conserve energy, and introducing running vests made from recycled materials. The hospice is also involved in research to assess the potential reduction of certain medical tests at the end of life, aiming to enhance both patient care and sustainability.
