A solo fisher was rescued after their 24ft boat capsized about five nautical miles from the coast. A passing yacht alerted HM Coastguard, who dispatched the RNLI Swanage lifeboat. Meanwhile, another fishing vessel retrieved the fisher from the upturned hull. The lifeboat arrived shortly after, transferring the cold and shocked individual to warmth. Coastguards and an ambulance awaited the lifeboat’s return at Poole Quay, where the casualty, found unharmed, was handed to coastguard volunteers. The Coastguard also informed shipping of the capsized vessel’s location to ensure safety, and the lifeboat crew returned to Swanage post-rescue.
