An unauthorised music event near East Lulworth was brought to a safe conclusion after police remained at the scene from late Saturday.
Dorset Police said the incident was first reported at around 11.45pm on Saturday 4 April 2026, with officers believing around 2,000 people were there and more than 100 vehicles were present in the area. Police stayed on site through the day and into the evening as work continued to disperse the gathering.
During the operation, officers seized equipment under section 64 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994. Dorset Police said 10 people were arrested for offences including driving while under the influence and assaulting an emergency worker, while further evidence from the scene is now being reviewed.
Assistant Chief Constable Steve Lyne said officers faced a “violent and hostile reception” and came under attack from missiles while responding. He said these events are illegal, cause “significant disruption to communities” and that further enquiries will now be carried out to identify any other offences.
Police and Crime Commissioner David Sidwick thanked residents for their patience and said the authorities took “swift, proportionate action” to disperse the event and bring it to a safe conclusion.
