Residents rally for Charminster library

Hundreds of residents rallied on June 12 to demand the reopening of Charminster Library, which has been closed since December 2025 due to a ceiling collapse. The community, including individuals aged 2 to 94, expressed how vital the library is for connecting families and offering programs for children. Asbestos removal is set to start at the end of June, but no funding for further repairs has been allocated. Former staff and community members emphasized the library’s role as a safe space and a hub for social interaction, with local officials acknowledging the strong community support for its reopening.
