Robot developed to combat toxic weeds tested in Dorset

Raggy, a robotic machine developed by Robotriks in collaboration with Dorset Council, is designed to identify and mechanically remove ragwort, a toxic plant harmful to livestock. Currently being trialled at Dorset Innovation Park, Raggy uses advanced machine vision and AI technology to reduce reliance on harmful chemicals, promoting healthier soil and wildlife safety. The electric unit selectively targets ragwort areas endangering animals while preserving vital pollinator habitats. Supported by Qualcomm’s technology, Raggy exemplifies innovative solutions aimed at enhancing agriculture and environmental protection. Field trials will occur across various Dorset farms this summer.
