Over 6,000 children aided by reading volunteers

Dorset Reading Partners, a charity celebrating its 20th anniversary, recognized its volunteers during National Volunteers’ Week. Special honors went to Rowan, Berys, and Dee for their combined 26 years of service, highlighting their significant impact on children’s reading skills. Manager Juliet Ruddick expressed gratitude for the dedication of volunteers who have supported thousands of children over the years. The celebration featured activities including a book exchange, cream tea, and a draw-along with author Nick Sharratt. The charity recruits and trains volunteers for one-to-one reading sessions in schools, contributing to children’s literacy and confidence.
