Ms. Margaret Barton, who portrayed café assistant Beryl Winters in the classic film “Brief Encounter,” celebrated her 100th birthday at Streets Meadow care home in Wimborne. The film, released on November 13, 1945, is regarded as one of the greatest movies. The celebration featured family, a visit from the Wimborne Town Mayor, a card from the King and Queen, and a specially made birthday cake. Barton, who acted in the 1940s and later ran a tea room, married Rob Cave in 2018, making them potentially Britain’s oldest newlyweds with a combined age of 183.
