Between January 2023 and March 2026, Dorset recorded 101,562 speeding offences in 20mph and 30mph zones, as revealed by an FOI request by Marshall Motor Group. Notably, a driver was recorded at 97mph in a 30mph zone, while another reached 43mph in a 20mph zone. Offences rose significantly, from 23,949 in 2023 to 34,906 in 2024. Areas with the highest violations included A348 Ringwood Road and St Peters Road. Ben Welham emphasized the dangers of speeding in urban areas, where pedestrian safety is a priority, highlighting the importance of adhering to speed limits.
