A Freedom of Information request indicated that fines for illegal parking rose to 95,203 in 2025, up from 94,999 in 2024. BCP Council is urging the government to empower them to increase Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs), noting that revenue from fines must reinvest in transport services. Councillor Richard Herrett emphasized tackling illegal parking, especially during busy bank holidays. In 2025, 23% of fines were successfully appealed, with August recording the highest number of penalties. Since 2020, fines and corresponding revenue have significantly increased, highlighting a growing issue of illegal parking in the area.
