During the bank holiday weekend, record temperatures led to an influx of visitors, straining parking and public services. Over 83 tonnes of rubbish were collected, and 2,884 fines were issued for illegal parking. Councillor Patrick Canavan criticized BCP Council for inadequate preparation, suggesting a park and ride service for busy periods. He raised concerns about anti-social behavior incidents, stating existing measures haven’t effectively addressed the issue. BCP Council Leader, Councillor Millie Earl, defended their efforts and emphasized the need for stronger powers and funding to manage visitor demands while maintaining a clean and safe environment.
