In July 2006, Wareham hosted the UK’s inaugural international Gugge music festival, celebrated by then-Mayor Les Burns as a remarkable event. The festival attracted over 150 musicians from Germany, Switzerland, and the UK, culminating in an exhilarating parade featuring four major bands: Geile Gugge, Blattluus, Chaos Gugge, and Gugge 2000. The festivities reached a peak on a vibrant Saturday night, accompanied by a stunning fireworks display that left a lasting impression on the community. Two decades later, the memories of this unforgettable weekend continue to resonate, reinforced by vivid photographs from the event.
