The Dartford Warbler, a small bird thriving in gorse, has reached a record number of breeding pairs on RSPB nature reserves, thanks to conservation efforts in Dorset. A recent survey noted 264 pairs in 2025, a 44% increase since 2020. The Arne site manager highlighted successful habitat restoration, allowing wildlife like the Dartford Warbler to flourish. Just over 60 years ago, only a few pairs existed in the UK, but now there are approximately 4,100. The RSPB plans to convert more farmland to heathland to support this vulnerable species amidst ongoing habitat loss.
