Swanage Coastguard successfully rescued Chester, a golden retriever trapped on a cliff ledge, in a five-and-a-half-hour operation involving both the coastguard and the fire service. Despite initial attempts to secure him, Chester broke free, necessitating additional resources. A Coastguard officer was eventually lowered down to safely secure him in a rescue bag. The operation showcased excellent teamwork among agencies and successfully reunited Chester with his owners. This incident follows a previous rescue of another dog, Tilly, who had fallen off a cliff earlier in the week.
