In 2025, England recorded 150 accidental water-related deaths, with five in the Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole (BCP) area, mainly occurring inland (61%). Professor Mike Tipton emphasized the tragic loss of life and urged public safety, advising adherence to supervised swimming areas and cautious entry into water to prevent cold shock. A new campaign, “Phone Float Throw,” instructs bystanders to call 999 and provide assistance without entering the water. The data revealed that 86% of victims were male, primarily aged 20-29, with recreational activities accounting for 63% of deaths. More information is available on the NWSF website.
