Amber heat-health alert issued for South West

The UK Health Security Agency has issued an amber heat-health alert for the South West from May 26 at 10am to May 28 at 5pm. This heat poses a risk to health, especially for individuals over 65 and those with existing conditions. Residents are advised to keep homes cool, avoid sunlight from 11am to 3pm, wear appropriate clothing, seek shade, and use sunscreen. There are warnings about cold-water shock related to open water, recommending swimming only at supervised locations. People are encouraged to check on vulnerable friends, family, and neighbors during the hot weather.
