Inquest into fatal Dorset crash that killed nine-year-old boy

Zachary Spencer Roe, affectionately known as Zac, tragically died at nine years old due to catastrophic injuries from a car crash caused by his mother, Barbara Roe, who was speeding and overtaking on a blind bend. She was sentenced to five years for dangerous driving. Zac’s grandmother expressed the family’s heartbreak over his loss, noting his love for nature and loyalty to friends. Despite concerns raised about Barbara’s mental health, an inquest into Zac’s death was not resumed, as officials found no substantial evidence that he was at imminent risk. The NHS trust has since identified areas for improvement in handling similar situations.
