The Attorney General’s Office is reviewing the sentences of three teenage boys convicted for two rape attacks in Fordingbridge. The boys, then aged 14 and 15, received youth rehabilitation orders from Southampton Crown Court, with two under intensive supervision. The offences involved two teenage girls and occurred in late 2024 and early 2025. Former safeguarding minister Jess Phillips criticized the sentences as “unduly lenient,” claiming they send a negative message. Judge Nicholas Rowland noted the need to consider the boys’ ages and peer pressure. The case is being examined under the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme.
