In January 2025, Cliffton Development Ltd proposed demolishing two commercial buildings on Holdenhurst Road, Bournemouth, to construct a three-storey block of 20 flats. This development includes 14 one-bedroom and six two-bedroom flats, with on-site bin and cycle storage, and will be a “car-free scheme.” Concerns have arisen from the local community and council about parking, the need for family homes, and the loss of commercial space. A previous application for 26 flats was denied due to similar objections. The planning application is set for review by the BCP eastern planning committee on May 28.
