A boat caught fire after crashing ashore in Durlston Bay, Swanage, at around 3 PM on May 22. The Swanage and St Albans Coastguard Rescue Teams, two RNLI lifeboats, and Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service responded to reports of a person overboard. A passing vessel rescued the individual. Firefighters found the hull ablaze and worked to extinguish the flames, later returning when the wreck reignited. Investigations are underway to determine the cause, and plans for safe removal of the wreck are being developed. The community is encouraged to volunteer as on-call firefighters.
