The UK Government has launched the “Great British Summer Savings” scheme, running from June 25 to September 1, which temporarily reduces VAT from 20% to 5% on various family-oriented activities. This initiative aims to alleviate cost-of-living pressures and boost local business during the holiday season. Eligible items include children’s meals at restaurants, cinema and attractions tickets, and free local bus travel for children aged 5 to 15 in August. Costing approximately £300 million, the scheme is expected to increase visitor numbers and support the leisure industry, with positive responses from local MPs and industry leaders.
