At the first town council meeting on May 20, Roberto Rocco of Reform UK was elected mayor of Bournemouth in an uncontested vote, expressing gratitude and honor in his acceptance speech. He aims to serve as a visible, approachable leader and support local charities and community groups. Mark Harper, also from Reform UK, was elected deputy mayor after George Farquhar declined the nomination. While the roles are largely ceremonial, they carry significant public responsibilities through civic events and council meetings. This marks the first year both ceremonial positions are held by members of the Reform UK party.
