Marlowe Hill from Poole received the Girlguiding Hero Award for raising funds to support Melody, a friend undergoing treatment for a rare cancer. Melody’s mother, Rachel, highlighted the drug’s high monthly cost of over £20,000, which the NHS does not cover. Marlowe organized a bake sale, inspired by Melody’s sister, raising £120. Her mother, Phoebe Chester, expressed immense pride in Marlowe’s initiative and kindness. The award presentation took place on May 18, attended by local commissioners and community supporters. Funds raised contribute to Melody’s treatment, which aims to be a groundbreaking option for children with similar conditions.
