Vikki Slade demands increased funding for fire services

Vikki Slade, the Liberal Democrat MP for Mid Dorset and North Poole, met with Fire Minister Samantha Dixon to address concerns over proposed fire station closures in Dorset and Wiltshire due to inadequate funding for the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service. Slade emphasized that rural areas are unfairly penalized by the current funding formula, despite experiencing significant fire risks. Following severe wildfires and flooding in her constituency, she urged for a review of the funding formula and has called for parliamentary discussions on climate resilience. The ongoing community support for fire services was highlighted in her advocacy.
