Starting September 2026, students can access loans for shorter, flexible courses, or “modules,” in addition to traditional degrees. This initiative, part of the Lifelong Learning Entitlement, allows learners to construct qualifications gradually, making education more accessible to fit personal commitments like work or childcare. The modules will address skills shortages in areas such as economics, computing, and health. Approved institutions, including Arts University Bournemouth, will offer these options, with students eligible for maintenance support. Education Minister Jacqui Smith emphasized that this reform reflects the need for more inclusive higher education pathways. Applications for 2027 courses open in September 2026.
